What you need to know:
If you are interested in one of our
puppies there are a few things we want you to know about them. The prices listed are for a companion puppy.
This means that the expectation is that the puppy will be spayed or neutered by the time s/he is about a year old (we
let you and your vet determine the exact age). When you send us a copy of the alter certificate from your
vet, we then send you your registration papers. We strongly prefer to place our puppies as companions but
may consider letting one go with full breeding rights to the right person; please ask if this is your interest.
What we need to know:

we first began this endeavor both Moriah and I were talking to different people about the same puppy unbeknownst to each other.
We felt very bad so have decided that all puppy inquiries will go through Moriah to preclude this ever happening again.
She will ask you some questions about you, your family and situation. Please
do not be offended, we love our puppies very much and want to make sure they go to the right home. Not
every home is a good fit for a dachshund.
Picking “The One”:
If you decide on a puppy, let Moriah know. Our
puppies are listed as “Available” meaning that we have not accepted a deposit nor are we waiting on a deposit;
and “Pending” meaning we have spoken to a person about this puppy and we will hold him/her for 3 days to give
the person the time to decide if they want the puppy and send a deposit. We accept a deposit of $75.00
(check, cash, money order) to hold a puppy until s/he goes home. At that time the puppy will be listed
as “Chosen” and will no longer be available to anyone else. When you send a deposit please
also give your name, address and phone number and if you have picked a name for your baby let us know. We
will start calling your baby by that name and put it on the website.
When can they go?:
We like to have our puppies go to
new homes between 7 and 9 weeks of age. This is the best time to begin bonding with a new family, and precludes
us from getting too attached! Each puppy is individual and some may be ready to go sooner than others.
We will hold on to any puppy we feel needs a bit more time with mom. We have occasionally held puppies
longer under special circumstances, please ask about this.
I want a different one:
If your favorite puppy is already
chosen or we don’t have the exact color, coat length, or sex you want you can ask to be put on our “Puppy Notification
List”. We do not take deposit before a puppy is born but are happy to let you know when we are expecting
a litter (this will also be listed under “Huckleberry Blossoms”). We will notify everyone on
our “Puppy Notification List” when a litter is born. At that time we will know the colors and
sex. Depending on parent’s genetics, coat length in some puppies can’t be fully determined
until about 2-3 weeks of age (some litters we will know prior to birth that they will all be long haired).
Getting the puppy into your
arms:
We
can airship your puppy if you live too far away to come get him or her. There is the additional cost of
a veterinary health certificate, and airplane ticket; we have already included the airline approved carrier. The
price will depend on where you live and which airline we use. We would be happy to make the arrangements
if you let us know the airport the puppy would fly in to.
We have also had very good luck with a trucking company for
delivery here in Montana. The puppy rides in the front with the driver (often right in his lap!).
We have used them several times and they are very good, safe, and trustworthy. Please let us know
if that is an option and let us help make the arrangements. Currently that fee is $75.00.
You can come to our home (Hot
Springs, MT) and pick up your puppy if you live close enough or want to take the drive. We try to work
with your schedule, especially if you are driving very far.
We also have delivered puppies to families or met them
part way. We occasionally go to Spokane, WA, Libby, Kalispell, Missoula, and cities along I90 to Billings
in Montana. Let us know where you live and we will start trying to figure out how to get your puppy to
you.
Special situations:
If you are giving the puppy as a special gift or surprise we can help
make it unique. We have made exceptional pages on our website for a certain puppy chosen for a person with
the person’s name and an individual note such as “Merry Christmas Susan, here is you special gift”.
“She can’t wait to come stay with you but won’t be old enough to leave mom till January.”
We have made special pages that show weekly pictures of a baby until old enough to go for a special gift.
